Spotlight on Richard Baker, Miami International Auto Show

Our November 16th Miami Beach Chamber Radio Show guest is the epitome of the male car fanatic. Richard Baker serves as President of the South Florida Automobile Dealers Association, sponsor of the annual Miami International Auto Show.

The S. FL Automobile Dealers Association, which comprises 190 new car dealerships in Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe and Palm Beach counties, plays an integral part in shaping the image of the infamous Auto Show.  Shedding its 41-year-old South Florida International Auto Show name, this prestigious and highly-anticipated event taking place in Miami Beach’s own backyard is now “Miami International Auto Show.” It kicks off the nation’s first large scale auto show of the season, held this year from November 9th-18th.

This year’s revamped image features exhibit extras like “Eco Experience” with displays of alternative fuel vehicles to meet the future. Show goers even get the chance to drive selected vehicles such as the Nissan Leaf, Mitsubishi I-MiEV and Chevrolet Volt around a track laid out on  the convention center floor!

A “Topless in Miami” display shows off vehicles that were award winners from last summer’s annual convertible competition.  Besides over 1,000 new cars, trucks, vans and SUVS from over 40 manufacturers, the show has Ride-and-Drive opportunities and a new Chevy Spark giveaway.

Spotlight on Dr. Ino Halegua, The Cardiology Center

“Ninety percent of our business is heart attack prevention, not treatment; many people say ‘I don’t need you yet!’ but in fact they need us more now than ever,” says Dr. Ino Halegua, our August 10th guest on the Miami Beach Chamber Radio Show.

Owner of his own Miami medical practice The Cardiology Center, Dr. Ino is a well-respected and beloved medical connoisseur with an impressive track record. Former Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation at South Miami Hospital and Chief of Medicine at Larkin Hospital, Dr. Ino was born in Greece on December 28, 1947. After moving to New York with his family in 1950, he graduated Cum Laude from the medical school at State University of New York Downstate Medical Campus and completed his medical internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

In August 1976, Dr. Ino opened his own medical practice here in Miami, and built The Cardiology Center in 1982 to serve the business community’s medical needs. He moved his office within Prime Care of Coral Gables following a 2008 downsize. Ino is particularly focused on preventative medicine and cardiology, and strives to meet the needs of his busy patients by scheduling timely appointments no matter what the exam may be.  Ino most frequently uses the South Miami and Baptist hospitals; he is a member of the Florida Society of Internal Medicine, American Medical Association, American Heart Association of Greater Miami, and the Florida Medical Association.

Ino is, not surprisingly, highly active within the community as well: not only is he affiliated with both the Miami Beach and Coral Gables Chambers of Commerce, but he also sits on the Hearing Research Institute’s Board of Directors. He sponsors countless charity organizations and events as well, such as Miami Project, Best Buddies, Make-A-Wish, Miami Beach Education Foundation, and more. When he is not busy saving the world from heart ailments, he can be found fishing, golfing, traveling or pursuing real estate projects with his daughter Oren and son Scott.

Visit Dr. Ino and his team at their 299 Alhambra Circle location in Coral Gables or call (305) 667-6920. But first, be sure to visit the BlogtalkRadio/Miami Beach Chamber Radio Show Page and listen to this influential business aficionado share his tips, philosophy and benefits of chamber membership. Spotlight on Larry Barditch, Warren Henry Auto Group

Mr. Larry Barditch, Director of Sales and Marketing at Warren Henry Auto Group, was our guest on June 29 on the Miami Beach Chamber Radio Show.

Larry surprisingly began his career in the bottled water industry! He owned Palm Water, a home and office bottled water company, for 19 years before selling it in 2008 prior to the country’s financial and real estate crashes. In July 2009 Barditch entered into the auto industry with a friend who owned a Chevrolet franchise; he also worked with General Motors as digital marketing consultant during their 2010 national eSummit campaign.

Barditch began working with Warren Henry Auto in December 2010 and has witnessed the growth of its seven franchises and nine Florida locations ranging from Ocala (Volvo/Subaru) to Palmetto Bay (Land Rover). The company, best known for “exceeding customer expectations in South Florida for over 35 years,” has a wide variety of dealerships: Land Rover, Jaguar, Volvo, Infiniti, Subaru, Lamborghini and Fisker.

He attributes the arrival of his “Ah-ha” moment to the auto industry’s lack of an adequate online experience for consumers: mirroring the tremendous boost of online marketing products from companies like Amazon and Zappos, Barditch began delivering a higher standard of online car customer service. His success comes from a strong philosophy of “networking, networking and MORE networking,” planting “seeds on good soil and eventually you will have a harvest,” and doing things for others without expecting anything in return.

What’s ahead in 2012/2013 in the automotive industry ? Larry says that consumer confidence and consumer spending is up. People have been holding onto their cars longer, which has dried up the used car market; repair shops & service revenues are up considerably, so it is somewhat cyclical. He holds that we will soon see an influx of used cars into the market as people start buying more new cars.

Visit Warren Henry Auto Group at www.warrenhenryauto.com or on Facebook and Twitter. Contact Larry directly at LBarditch@warrenhenryauto.com, (305) 690-6087 or find him on LinkedIn!

Marc is a 27-year veteran of the Miami-Dade County government. A former director of public affairs for the Houston Police Department, Marc is also a former Associate Press Secretary under President Jimmy Carter. In addition, he has worked for two other Miami-Dade County Departments, Transit and Human Services in communications capacities, and worked under former Governor Bob Graham in the Department of Administration (now Management Services).
